Ryan Reynolds wishes his pal Hugh Jackman well with sweet video montage following COVID-19 diagnosis

Ryan Reynolds chose a cute way to wish his buddy Hugh Jackman well following news The Music Man lead had contracted COVID-19 a second time.

The Deadpool star posted to Instagram a montage of the pair together — and he didn’t shy away from using clips of their many internet jabs at each other to boot.

“Feel better,” Ryan captioned the clip.

For his part, Jackman is keeping busy during his downtime.

On Instagram, he posted an outtake of a video of him and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, dressed to the nines. Unlike his sharp tux and tails, Jackman’s delivery was anything but smooth as he flubs his line to the camera and blows a raspberry.

“Things to do when you have covid. Again,” he posted. “Clean out your iPhone photos and videos.”

As reported, the Tony winner will be missing his Music Man performances while he recovers and will return to Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre on Wednesday, June 22.

Report: ‘SNL’ star Kenan Thompson files for divorce after separation

Dan MacMedan/WireImage

Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson has filed for divorce from Christina Evangeline, two months after reports they had separated, a source close to the couple tells Us Weekly.

Thompson, 43, filed for divorce from the 33-year-old model last month, the insider tells the entertainment magazine.

Kenan and Christina, who tied the knot in 2011, have agreed to split custody of their two daughters — Georgia, 7, and Gianna, 4 — according to the source, who adds the two are “still close as co-parents and they plan on spending holidays together and celebrate their daughters’ birthdays as a family.”

Thompson and Evangeline separated back in November 2020, before “officially” filing for divorce in May, a source told Us back in April. “They remain close as co-parents and have remained very close throughout the separation,” the insider continued, revealing that the estranged couple had separated 18 months earlier. “[They] are completely amicable. There’s nothing juicy about why they split.”

The source said the split was a “mutual decision” between the two, explaining that Kenan and Christina “really just grew apart and wanted different things.”

The insider insisted Kenan’s “very active in his daughters’ lives. He’s an amazing father, especially given his schedule and obligations.”

“The kids spend majority of the time with their mom but he always makes sure to see them,” the source continued.

Juneteenth: a teachable moment of forgotten history

Jon Cherry/Getty Images

While most Americans prepare to celebrate the country’s freedom on July 4, many Black people in the United States recognize June 19 as their independence day.

What’s widely known as Juneteenth, but also referred to as Jubilee Day or Black Independence Day, is the significant date in Black history when the last enslaved African Americans found out about their freedom. The news was delivered to Black people in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which lawfully marked the end of slavery for those of the Southern Confederate states.

With Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black woman to hold the second-highest office in the executive branch, by his side, President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law last year, on June 17, 2021. But the African American community had been celebrating long before Juneteenth was made a federal holiday.

Those celebrations normally include music, food, and traditions such as the singing of the national Black anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” But some stars, like Naomi Raine of the Grammy-winning gospel group Maverick City Music, plan to commemorate the holiday differently this year. Raine will open up honest conversations with her children.

“I think everybody’s kind of evolving how they’re celebrating this holiday because some of it is just coming to light for many of us,” Raine told ABC Audio. “Now, it’s more about educating my children and letting them know the roots of our nation and talking about how freedom is for everybody.”

The country’s delayed acknowledgement of what has long been an erased part of American history encourages Black people to research and educate themselves on unknown facts about their ancestry.

The 157th anniversary of Juneteenth is this Sunday, June 19.

Phil Rosenthal shares more of ‘Earth’s greatest hits’ in new season of ‘Somebody Feed Phil’

Courtesy of Netflix

The new season of Somebody Feed Phil, where host Phil Rosenthal travels the world and discovers delicious bites, is out now on Netflix.

Since the show has been airing, Rosenthal tells ABC Audio he’s gotten some insight into which locations have been fan favorites.

“There was one city that we went to that became the #1 place that people tell me they went to because of the show. And that’s Lisbon,” he says. “You don’t think of it. We say you go to Europe or you go to Paris, Barcelona, you know, Rome. Lisbon doesn’t come to the front of the list. Now it’s on the top of the list because they saw it. And once you see it and you see it’s almost an amalgam of all the great other European cities and not as crowded, you’re like, ‘We got to go there.’”

This season, Rosenthal visits Maine; Oregon; Oaxaca, Mexico; Helsinki, Finland; and Madrid, Spain. Of all the places he’s traveled to, he shares that his favorite dish was right here in the USA.

“There’s a lobster roll in Maine that’s pretty awesome, at Red’s Eats,” he says. “It’s undeniable. I mean, if there’s a heaven, that’s one of the places that’s like God’s favorite hangout.”

Still, Rosenthal is certain there’s more to see. He shared that if Netflix renews the show for another season there will be many more scenic destinations and, of course, amazing eats.

“We start with Earth’s greatest hits. Even though we’ve done about 30 of these, we still haven’t scratched the surface of the Earth in terms of the great places to go,” Rosenthal says. “There’s … countries, whole countries, that we haven’t even set foot in yet that I can’t wait to go to. I guess the longer we go, the less well-known the places will become.”

Ahead of Father’s Day, ‘Sesame Street’ salutes dads with spoof of Friends’ opening number

ABC/Fred Lee

The Muppets of Sesame Street are saluting dads — and those who play the role — with a special send-up of the opening to Friends.

The clip starts with the familiar fountain backdrop of the beloved sitcom, with F – A – T – H – E – R – S flashed on the screen in the show’s familiar font, while Elmo, Wes and their pals sit on the set’s orange couch.

The characters, along with Wes’ dad, Elijah, Elmo’s pop, Louie, and the other dads from the children’s show all sing a new version of The RembrandtsFriends theme, rewritten to showcase dads and all they do.

“When if feels like you’re being pulled from there to here/When you haven’t slept in days or weeks or months, or three and a half years,” the Muppet dads sing, “I’ll be there for you.”

There’s even a song break saluting Phoebe’s song “Smelly Cat,” with this version saying, “Smelly Trash/Smelly Trash, why do Grouches love you?”

Tiffany Haddish reflects on time in foster care: “I thought I was going to die there”

ABC

Tiffany Haddish reflected on her experience in the foster care system and how it has inspired her to use her platform to give back to other foster kids.

“When I was in foster care, I mean, I thought I was going to die there,” the Girls Trip actress told Variety. “I didn’t think I would make it to 18.”

“And when I made it to 18, I was like, ‘OK, I got to really think bigger.’ And I did think bigger, and I’m definitely where I thought I would be. Well, it’s bigger than what I thought.”

Haddish said she now feels the way she had always hoped to feel, which is “secure in my ability to provide for me.”

While the Emmy-winning comedian said her goal is to look on the positive side of her experience, saying it made her strong, there were dark times.

“When I was a kid and I was moving around, all my stuff had to be in trash bags, and moving like that is not good for the self-esteem because it makes you feel like garbage that can easily be transported to here or there,” she said. “You start thinking of yourself as such, as garbage.”

Haddish said this was “the worst feeling in the world personally” and she made a vow to herself in that moment.

“I told myself, ‘If I ever get any power, I’m going to try to make sure kids don’t feel like that,'” she said.

To accomplish this, the “Layla, the Last Black Unicorn” co-author founded the She Ready Foundation, a nonprofit that gives suitcases to foster children and connects them with internship programs.

“She Ready Foundation serves as the voice of foster children suffering in silence,” the group’s website reads.

The streamer teases, “Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever.”
