‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ star MeKai Curtis talks “explosive” second season

Starz

Power Book III: Raising Kanan returns to Starz with season two on Sunday, and fans are in for one wild ride.

After leaving fans with more than a few unanswered questions -- like will Kanan get caught for shooting an officer and is that officer his real father -- season two finds the Thomas family beginning to face the aftermath of their actions. MeKai Curtis, who stars in the titular role of Kanan, tells ABC Audio that his character is on the hunt for answers when he returns to the screen.

"He's very weary of everything around. He wants more answers to questions that he has. And he's going to get those answers. You know, he's very strong and determined, just like his mother," Curtis explains, referencing Tony Award winner Patina Miller, who portrays Kanan's mother, Raquel "Raq" Thomas, in the series.

"A lot of the just the way that Raq has raised him, you see that come to play in second season, you know, for better or worse," Curtis adds. "It's actually it's pretty fun to see how that plays out with them but that's the sort of space that Kanan is in in the second season...trying to figure out who he is after being who he thought he wanted to be."

Kanan's hunt for answers is just part of what makes for a wild season ahead -- a season that Curtis and Miller describe in four words: "Explosive, revealing, emotional...and complicated."

Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which has already been renewed for season three, also stars Omar Epps, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Hailey Kilgore, Shanley Caswell and Antonio Ortiz.

Serena Williams announces she’s “evolving away from tennis” in new ‘Vogue’ essay

Luis Alberto Rodriguez

Serena Williams is gearing up to say goodbye to professional tennis after serving up inspiration to the sports world for more than two decades.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner penned a new personal essay for Vogue magazine that was revealed exclusively on Good Morning America Tuesday. Titled "The Hardest Thing," she says farewell to the game in her own way and in her own words.

Williams said she hates the word retirement, writing: "The best word to describe what I'm up to is evolution. I'm here to tell you that I'm evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me."

The former #1-ranked women's tennis player and four-time Olympic gold medalist said there is "no happiness in this topic for me," but that she wants to focus on family and her business investment empire. Williams explained that she doesn't feel she can do that while also playing tennis.

"But these days, if I have to choose between building my tennis résumé and building my family, I choose the latter ... In the last year, [husband] Alexis [Ohanian] and I have been trying to have another child, and we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family. I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out," Williams wrote.

Although this is the closest Serena's come to a possible retirement, it's not the end for the champ just yet. Williams recently scored her first tournament singles win in over a year at the WTA National Bank Open in Toronto and plans to play in the U.S. Open in New York City.

Kanye responds to Kim and Pete breakup news with IG “headline”

Kanye West has responded to news of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson's reported break-up as, well, one might expect him to.

The recording artist posted to Instagram a realistic-looking mock-up of The New York Times with the headline "Skete Davidson Dead At 28."

A subheadline reads, "Kid Cudi meant to play funeral, but fearful of bottle throwers," a reference to the artist who replaced Ye at the Rolling Loud festival two weeks ago. Fans tossing water bottles at Cudi led him to walk off the stage.

The post generated more than 1.4 million likes in a matter of hours -- and more than a few disapproving comments.

"God step in," one follower pleaded.

"Petty," noted another.

That said, Ye had his share of supporters: "Skete is a clown," one opined, adding the clown face emoji for good measure.

"Ye back!" another posted.
