The official teaser trailer to ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio’ is out now

Netflix

The official teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro‘s Pinocchio has arrived.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro‘s version of the classic Carlo Collodi novel reimagines the famous story of the wooden marionette, Pinocchio, voiced by Gregory Mann, brought to life by a grieving woodcarver, Geppetto (David Bradley) in stop-motion form.

The teaser trailer begins with narration from Cricket, voiced by Ewan McGregor, as scenes showing Geppetto’s loss and Pinocchio’s creation are displayed.

“From my many wanderings on this earth, I had so much to say about imperfect fathers and imperfect sons. And about loss and love,” Cricket says. “I’ve learned that there are old spirits who rarely involve themselves in the human world, but on occasion they do.”

“I want to tell you a story — it’s a story you may think you know, but you don’t. A story of the wooden boy,” he continues.

The film’s star-studded cast also features Finn Wolfhard, Tilda Swinton, John Turturro, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman and Christoph Waltz.

Del Toro previously opened up about what the story of Pinocchio means to him.

“No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio,” he said in a statement.

“In our story, Pinocchio is an innocent soul with an uncaring father who gets lost in a world he cannot comprehend,” his statement continued. “He embarks on an extraordinary journey that leaves him with a deep understanding of his father and the real world. I’ve wanted to make this movie for as long as I can remember.”

The film hits select theaters and Netflix in December.

Ryan Gosling on ‘The Gray Man’ and his own personal “Kenaissance”

Netflix

Ryan Gosling told Good Morning America on Thursday that he has always wanted to make an action film and is checking off that box with his latest movie, The Gray Man, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who is known for his roles in La La Land and The Notebook, explains action films are, “probably what made me fall in love with movies.”

“It took a long time to get there but, you know, it was like finding the right one, finding the right character and obviously the Russo brothers directing this, who have been doing this for a decade at Marvel and killing it, I just knew I could go along for the crazy ride and feel comfortable with them driving,” he continued.

Gosling, who shares two daughters with his partner, actress Eva Mendes, also shared a funny moment involving his family that took place while he was filming in Prague.

He recalled, “…There’s lots of explosions going off…Eva and the kids…were in a hotel nearby.”

“I got a call in the middle of one of the scenes and…it was Eva saying, ‘How long are these explosions going to go on because the girls have a piano zoom class,'” he laughed.

In the movie, Gosling’s character, Sierra Six, is mocked by former CIA Agent Lloyd Hansen — played by Chris Evans — and referred to as “Ken Doll.” Gosling said the line was added into the script of The Gray Man after he was cast in the live-action Barbie film.

“I was the last to recognize the Ken in me but — I see it clearly now,” the actor joked, saying he’s experiencing a “Kenaissance.”

The Gray Man is out in select theaters now and hits Netflix Friday.

Jennifer Lopez delivers emotional speech thanking “disappointment” and “failure” at ‘2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards’

Jennifer Lopez delivered a powerful speech while accepting the Generation Award at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday.

The actress and singer, 52, was honored with the award that “celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.”

During her acceptance speech, Lopez acknowledged how much her roles have meant to her and the impact of those who have helped her — or attempted to hold her back — along the way.

Reflecting on her previous roles, she said: “I look at those movies and I see all the wonderful people that I’ve been blessed to know and to work with. You’re only as good as the people that you work with, and if you’re lucky, they may make you better. And I have been very lucky in that regard.”

“As an actor, I’m not any of the women that I’ve played, but there is a part of what is deeply true to me in each one of those characters,” she continued.

“I want to thank all the people who gave me this life,” she said. “I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart. The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself because that’s how I knew that I had to grow.”

“I want to thank disappointment and failure for teaching me to be strong and my children for teaching me to love,” she continued. “I want to thank all the people who told me, to my face or when I wasn’t in the room, that I couldn’t do this. I really don’t think I could have done it without you.”

Stars are paying tribute to actor Ray Liotta after the news of his death was announced Thursday. The Goodfellas actor died at the age of 67, ABC News confirmed.

Here are some of the messages remembering the late actor and his impact:

Lorraine Bracco: “I am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray. I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.”

Jennifer Lopez:Ray was my partner in crime on Shades of Blue … the first thing that comes to mind is he was so kind to my children… We lost a great today … RIP RAY … it’s so sad to lose you what seems way to soon … I will remember you always. Sending so much love and strength to your daughter Karsen, your family and all your loved ones.”

Adam Sandler: “Tremendous actor. Sweetheart of a dad. Such a great funny man to know. Prayers are with his whole family.”

Seth Rogen: “I can’t believe Ray Liotta has passed away. He was such a lovely, talented and hilarious person. Working with him was one of the great joys of my career and we made some of my favorite scenes I ever got to be in. A true legend of immense skill and grace.”

Josh Brolin: “My buddy. My friend. How so soon? Why? I’ll miss you. I will think about seeing you at Gold’s often, talking about what to do next, how to find something together. I always looked up to you — the work was always so good, but the man you were always stood out among the rest of them. Yes, I will miss you, pal. Until we meet again, wherever they say that is. #riprayliotta”

Taron Egerton: “I stepped on the set of Black Bird in May of last year deeply excited that I would be working with Ray Liotta and even more excited that he would be playing my father….When I first saw our show I text him telling him that I felt his performance was beautiful and that I was very proud of our work. His response was: ‘you made it easy to love my son.’ Ray, the feeling was so, so mutual. I will miss you.”

Jamie Lee Curtis: “Ray Liotta has died. His work as an actor showed his complexity as a human being. A gentle man. So sad to hear.”

Viola Davis: “RIP Ray Liotta!! Loved your work”

The hit romantic comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding was released 20 years ago today.

In honor of the anniversary, Nia Vardalos, who played Toula Portokalos in the film, reflected on writing the script for the film and detailed what she learned from the initial pushback she received.

Sharing a thread on Twitter centered on the 20-year anniversary, Vardalos wrote, “When agents/managers said my script wasn’t good and actors shouldn’t write, I recall wondering why they were angry. They fired me.”

“So, I changed the material into a solo stage show,” she continued. “@RitaWilson saw the play and said, ‘this should be a movie.’ I handed her my screenplay, this creator & producer got the film made with me as the lead. We premiered in 106 theaters, expanded to more, ran for over a year.”

Vardalos, who received an Oscar nomination for best screenplay and a Golden Globe nomination for best actress for the film, also commented on the mixed reactions it received.

“People full of love loved it, and again some were snide, hateful,” Vardalos said.

The film, produced by Rita Wilson, her husband Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, ended up grossing $368 million worldwide.

“How can it be two months without you??” Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, posts about her loss

ABC/Craig Sjodin

Wednesday marked two months since the untimely death of Bob Saget, and the somber milestone was noted by Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, on Instagram

The Full House actor, 65, was found dead in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida, on January 9.

“2 whole months,” Kelly wrote in a note, alongside a picture of the pair embracing. “I’ve experienced that now time means nothing and everything at the same time. You count the weeks, and the months, they’re strange and surreal milestones.”

Her message continued, “How can it be 2 months without you?? But also it feels like yesterday you were here — and it still also feels like you never left? I like to say it’s all a very weird new universe. Learning how to navigate it is quite the journey.”

In February, Saget’s family revealed that he died from head trauma.

“They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” his family said in a statement obtained by ABC News. “No drugs or alcohol were involved.”

Since her husband’s death, Rizzo has shared several posts about her time spent processing the loss. She also opened up about Saget’s incredible impact during an appearance on Good Morning America in late January.

“He did everything for everybody — if you had a problem, he was the first person that was going to take care of it and help you,” she said on the show. “And he was just the most caring and kind and thoughtful person…he was just the most absolutely wonderful husband that I ever could have dreamed of.”
